Jefferson County Public Schools

Every Day Counts

BACKGROUND

INSPIRING STUDENTS TO SHOW UP

With as many as 8 million U.S. public school students struggling academically simply because they miss too much school, it’s a fact that absences add up. That’s why Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) set out to prove the importance of showing up with Every Day Counts—an initiative that empowers parents, students and the community with information about the importance of consistent school attendance.

EXECUTION

A CAMPAIGN TO IMPROVE ATTENDANCE

To help them meet their goal of an attendance rate of 96.5%, we worked with JCPS to fight absenteeism firsthand. With over 200 schools participating, we knew the campaign had to be fun, it had to be memorable and it had to be effective.

A campaign name, logo, tagline, strategic messaging and print/digital collateral were only the beginning. Pop-up dance parties, community partnerships and special events inspired students to “commit to miss less than six” days of school each year. #EveryDayCounts continues to make an impact today, uniting more than 100K students to celebrate the power of positive attendance.
